Foothill Yellow-Legged Frog

  • On June 16, 2017, the California Fish and Game Commission voted to make the foothill yellow-legged frog a “threatened” Candidate under the California Endangered Species Act. During CESA candidacy, a species is afforded protections as a listed species and “take” is prohibited per Fish and Game Code. CAL FIRE provides the following document as general information to be considered in developing Timber Harvesting Plans.

  • Important information on the Sierra Nevada mountain yellow-legged frog (Rana sierra) and the northern distinct population segment of the mountain yellow-legged frog (Rana muscosa)
    On April 29, 2014 the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) published the final rule listing the Sierra Nevada yellow-legged frog and the northern distinct population segment (DPS) of the mountain yellow-legged frog as endangered; the final rule becomes effective on June 30, 2014. Guidance for RPFs and LTOs to follow.
