Fire Engines

While wildland fire protection is the emphasis, the need to protect structures both in wildland areas, and in cities and communities throughout California, make it necessary for the Department to have a variety of engine models. The engines described on these pages are the core models owned and used by the CAL FIRE.
CAL FIRE's most recent wildland engine is the Model 34.
The Model 34 is a four-wheel drive Type 3 engine with a 500 gallon tank. Its 2-stage pump can distribute 500 gallons per minute.
